Carla Smith received her Bachelor’s in Social Work from UNC Charlotte in 1997. She moved to Atlanta, GA to pursue professional experience in various areas of social work including: ● Salvation Army Women & Children's Shelter Charlotte, North Carolina ● Florence Crittenton Services Charlotte, North Carolina ● Family Independence Case Manager SW Atlanta, Georgia ● Residential Therapeutic Counselor Metro-Atlanta, Georgia ● Mental Health Counseling Associate Riverdale, Georgia ● Licensed Massage Therapist Riverdale, Georgia ● Holistic Health & Wellness Consultant Charlotte, North Carolina While working as a Mental Health Counseling Associate, Carla attended and received her certification in Integrative Massage Therapy and Neuromuscular Therapy in August 2002 from Atlanta School of Massage in Dunwoody GA. In 2003, Carla established Essential Touch, LLC to provide therapeutic massage services. Upon the acknowledgement of Massage Therapy as a licensed profession (2007), Carla was licensed as a massage therapist in the state of Georgia. Carla relocated with her family to Charlotte NC in 2009 and is presently working to re-establish Essential Touch, LLC as a virtual service which include online activities that encourage self-care and and natural healing for emotional wellness and overall well-being. Upon receiving her massage therapy license in the state of NC, Carla plans to open her wellness practice providing the above services and is presently developing the services of: ● Holistic life coaching ● Promote and contract the services of other massage and bodywork professionals ● Provide a wellness networking service that encourages the sharing of holistic health and wellness resources, that promote self-care, holistic health practicioners and their services as well as networking opportunities for those seeking to offer or receive support and guidance for overall wellness.
