Islam Elfiky

Islam Elfiky has built his career through a mix of entrepreneurship, healthcare technology, athletics, and hospitality. Based in New York, he works as a founder and business developer with experience turning practical ideas into active ventures. His background includes competitive squash, business development, and a family connection to healthcare and community care in Egypt. Since 2020, his primary work has been with MedsNow, where he serves as Co-Founder and Head of Business Development. The company supports independent pharmacies as they move further into the digital economy. Its platform helps pharmacies sell online, meet compliance requirements, onboard patients, send invoices, accept payments, and manage receivables with clearer analytics. These tools are designed to help smaller pharmacies compete with larger chains that already have strong digital systems. MedsNow gained early recognition when it was selected for Cohort 14 of XRC Labs. The accelerator gave the company access to mentors, retail partners, and business resources. The startup also appeared at XRC Ventures’ 2023 Demo Day and received support from the XRC Ventures Accelerator Program and Reshape Ventures. Building the company has required careful planning, steady communication, and the ability to work through pressure in a regulated industry. Before his startup work, Islam Elfiky developed many of these habits through squash. Raised in Cairo, he became part of the Egyptian National Team as a junior while the team held the world’s top ranking. He later reached a personal world men’s ranking of 165th. After studying at the American University in Cairo, he moved to the United States and continued his education and athletic career at The George Washington University. At George Washington, he competed at the No. 1 position for the men’s squash team. During the 2011-12 season, he recorded 21 wins and three losses, earned the program’s Most Valuable Player award, and was named Male Athlete of the Year at the first Georgey Awards. In the prior season, he earned 18 wins and two losses while also playing every match at No. 1. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 2014. His first business venture was connected to the sport that shaped his early life. From 2014 to 2016, he co-founded Squash on Fire, a Washington, D.C., project created to offer a high-end squash facility with wider public access. The facility opened in 2017 and gave him direct experience building a business from its early concept.
